Two paid temporary job opportunities with Edinburgh Science at Careers Hive, a careers event as you've never seen one before. 

Careers Hive offers Scottish school students from P7-S3 (aged 10-14) a new way to look at their futures by exploring different career pathways and roles across multiple sectors. Visitors have the chance to get hands-on with a range of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) activities and meet early career STEM professionals, who are on hand to answer questions and share their career experiences. As S1–3 reach the point in their education where they choose their subjects, Careers Hive works to showcase that STEM skills are transferrable and further studying STEM subjects will help their future careers in a wide range of sectors. Careers Hive 2025 we welcomed 1,950 pupils and their teachers from 34 schools.

ZONE LEADERS
As a zone leader you will be responsible for oversight of two of the four topic-themed zones at Careers Hive. Duties will include supervising the STEM industry volunteers assigned to your zones, facilitating interactions between the industry volunteers and young people, and maintaining the safety of your space, including safe use and storage of equipment.
Pay: £14.60 per hour

Work hours: Approximately 30 hours over 4 days

• You will be a natural communicator and able to build rapport quickly and easily with young people.
• You will ideally have team supervisor experience in an events environment, where you will have shown to be approachable, reliable, and supportive of team members.
• You will be experienced and confident at presenting to and facilitating groups of young people.  
• You will have some experience in youth work or in an education setting or community education setting.  
• A Scientific or STEM background is desirable but not essential, but you will have a passion for inspiring, encouraging and supporting the development of young people. 

EXPERIENCE GUIDES
High quality science communication is at the heart of what Edinburgh Science is all about and our Experience Guides are our ambassadors. Experience Guides to interact, facilitate, and engage young people through the Careers Hive exhibition and auditorium.

Pay: £13.45 per hour
Work hours: Approximately 25 hours over 4 days

• You will be a natural communicator and able to build rapport quickly and easily with young people.
• You will be experienced and confident at presenting to and facilitating groups of young people.  
• You will ideally have some experience (formal or informal) in youth work or in an education setting or community education setting.  A Scientific or STEM background is desirable but not essential, but you will have a passion for inspiring, encouraging and supporting the development of young people
