Health and Safety Coordinator
Salary: CIRCA £28,000 per annum
Hours: Full-time 37 hours per week) permanent - office based
As a responsible organisation the health and safety of Life’s customers, visitors, staff and tenants is a top priority and that we maintain a safe environment within our Science Centre and more broadly across the site.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and hard-working Health and Safety Coordinator to join the team. This role is reporting into the Director responsible for Health and Safety and working with the Heads of Departments to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, design and deliver annual action plans, and maintaining a safe environment for staff, visitors and tenants.
You will be responsible for reviewing Health and Safety policies and procedures, obtaining advice from external consultants on best practise, supporting annual Health and Safety Audits, undertaking site inspections, which may involve plant and equipment located on the roof or other harder to access areas. The role includes coordinating Life’s fire strategy and risk assessment, administering and providing input to the health and safety committee, administration for business continuity planning preparation for Martyn’s Law and support on GDPR.
You will have proven experience working in a similar role, and working knowledge of risk assessments, audits and delivering health and safety action plans. Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential, together with knowledge and experience of identifying and arranging appropriate training for staff. You will be capable of managing your own workload with minimal supervision and be working towards or interested in achieving the NEBOSH certificate.
