MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER VACANCY

Hybrid working (London W1 and home)

AWF is seeking a talented marketing communications professional with a science background to promote the Animal Welfare Foundation and increase engagement and support for the charity.

The Animal Welfare Foundation (AWF) improves the lives of animals by funding research to increase knowledge and understanding of animal welfare issues, providing a platform for debate through its annual animal welfare conference and supporting veterinary students with free talks and research grants. AWF’s audience is predominantly the veterinary and animal welfare community and its work is UK focussed.

AWF is governed by an enthusiastic board of trustees who are qualified veterinary and animal welfare professionals. We are the charity of the British Veterinary Association, the UK’s largest membership organisation for vets and are based at its central London office.

A natural communicator and storyteller, you will use your creativity and scientific expertise to create a clear narrative about the charity, its impact and achievements.  You will work with the AWF team to research and understand the charity’s key audiences and devise innovative communications strategies to raise its profile.

You will have a strong track record of working in marketing communications within the charity, veterinary or animal welfare sector. The role will involve writing for a variety of audiences and mediums, as well as creating visual and video content to tell the charity’s story.

The ideal candidate will enjoy working as part of a small team, but also be confident to take the lead and work unsupervised when necessary. This is a new role and the post holder will join a supportive team of two, and work closely with an active Board of Trustees.  The role will also involve working with BVA’s marketing and media teams to direct campaigns and appeals to their membership of 18k+ veterinary professionals.

This is an exciting opportunity to play an instrumental role in raising AWF’s profile and have a lasting impact on our charity.  The role is full time with a starting salary of £34,785, plus a generous benefits package.

If you would like an informal conversation to find out more about this role and working for AWF, you are welcome to contact Erika Singh, AWF Manager: erika@animalwelfarefoundation.org.uk

To apply please submit your CV and a covering letter describing how your skills meet the role profile and explaining your motivation for wanting to work with AWF. Please also give an indication of your current salary and notice period. Applications should be submitted by email to Anita Maddox at: anitam@bva.co.uk.

The closing date for receipt of applications is 9am on Monday 3 October 2022.

First interviews will be held remotely on 6/7 October with second interviews in person at the charity’s central London office on 11/12 October 2022.

AWF recognises the positive value of diversity, and we welcome applications from all sectors of society. We would particularly welcome applications from under-represented groups within the not-for-profit/membership sector.
