RUNNING HYBRID EVENTS
Location: Manchester and Online
There has been a huge amount of change in the way events take place over the last few years - from the shift to running events online, to a gradual move back to in-person events. Hybrid events - ones incorporating an in-person and online component - are a great way to retain the accessibility gains from online events while building in the excitement of in-person.

As part of this BIG Skills Day, Katie Steckles and Sam Langford will share their experience and knowledge of running successful hybrid events, including: how to manage tech and software; event planning to maximise the benefit of the hybrid format; and how hybrid will impact your budget and time.
What will happen at this Skills Day?
This Skills Day is a hybrid session. This means you can physically attend the session in Manchester (lunch and tea/coffee included with your in-person ticket). Or you can attend online via a Zoom call (joining details will be sent to you after registration).
The content of the day is suitable for everyone; from people who have never run a hybrid event before, through to seasoned campaigners who want to take their production values to the next level.
Katie and Sam will cover the technological and logistical challenges of running things hybrid, give advice on how to counter any potential pitfalls, and give you a chance to play with some technology to understand how it works, as well as advice on budgeting and logistics.
Whether you’re running your events for small or large audiences, and whether you’re flying solo, working with larger organisations, using your own venue or others, join us to hear about the trials and tribulations of hybrid, share your own thoughts and pick up some tips on how to keep your remote attendees feeling as welcome as those who just walked through the door.
The day will cover:
- Why hybrid events are important for accessibility
- When to use hybrid (and when not to)
- How to use hybrid hardware and software to its best effect
- Cameras and audio - what set ups work best and for what
- Case studies of how other hybrid events have worked
- Plenty of time to play with the setting on your own PC or Mac with advice from Katie and Sam
